Battle Creek, Nebraska, is supported by two churches: St. John’s Lutheran (MSLC) and St. Patrick’s Catholic. Battle Creek has an excellent public school system which offers classes from Pre-K all the way through 12th grade (Dual-Credit courses are also available through Northeast Community College). Parochial education is also available for Pre-K through 8th grade by St. John’s Lutheran School. Nestled along the banks of Battle Creek and near the Elkhorn River, the Battle Creek area offers exceptional hunting, fishing and other recreational opportunities. Oak Valley and Yellow Banks Wildlife Management Areas are each located within five miles of the community. Willow Creek State Recreational Area, which is located within fifteen miles, offers opportunities for boating, camping, fishing and hunting. The Battle Creek City Park and Arboretum is a fifty-five acre area with baseball and softball fields, a swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, playground, a picnic shelter, gazebo and Community Club-house. Dining options are provided by Goody’s Grille, a family owned steakhouse, that is well known throughout the area for their outstanding Prime-rib dinners as well as other full service seafood, pasta and burger menu items; as well as a newly opened Subway restaurant. The Fight’n River Saloon is a popular spot that offers full bar service, noon lunches, KENO and a friendly atmosphere.
