The Norfolk Noon Optimists are a group of like-minded citizens interested in helping “bring out the best in youth, our community and ourselves”. Circle of Friends (COF) is a form of Peer Mediated Intervention (PMI). PMI is defined as a treatment approach in which typically developing peers are trained to implement behavioral interventions and facilitate social skills development in special needs populations. Originally implemented with preschoolers, the Circle of Friends model has been used to support individuals on the autism spectrum of all ages through the college level. It can be used to support any student with behavioral or social needs. Website

4-H is a national organization delivered by Cooperative Extension-a community of more than 100 public universities across the nation that provides experiences where young people learn by doing. Youth complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture, and citizenship, in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. The mission of the Norfolk Key Club is to serve our community in any way we can, while building leadership skills and character. Our club mainly targets helping the youth of the community as well as low income families. Email
Kiwanis Emerging Leaders is active in the Norfolk community, assisting with multiple events like Fork Fest, Oktoberfest along with hosting our own events like the annual Bar Crawl. We volunteer monthly at the local Head Start program and read to children in their classrooms helping to promote literacy in northeast Nebraska. Our annual Back 9 Bar Crawl fundraiser raises money that we can give back to the community and different youth-focused activities and projects.
