East Norfolk Avenue bridge project is ready for the next phase of construction.
More changes are in store for the East Norfolk Avenue bridge reconstruction project. This time, the progress is bringing traffic changes to First Street.
In an attempt to maintain an aggressive schedule, some of the phases of this project have been switched to complete the bridge as efficiently as possible. Traffic changes are occurring on July 6th and will affect First Street. The purpose of this phase of the project is to reconstruct First Street and Norfolk Avenue. There will be only one lane of north and south bound traffic on First Street, generally in the area of Braasch Avenue to Madison Avenue.
“To ensure the safety of citizens driving on this path, and to continue the business patronage in this area, a protected left turn is operational at the intersection of First Street and Madison Avenue,” said Public Works Director, Dennis Smith. “This will allow south bound traffic to turn into the HyVee and Prenger’s entrance safely.”
The East Norfolk Avenue bridge reconstruction project is on track with the aggressive schedule established by the project contractor, Dixon Construction.
